How to inspect and maintain the equipment during the operation of a grinding mill?

During the operation of a grinding mill, the operator is responsible for the equipment and production indicators. Therefore, in order to ensure the normal operation of the grinding process, the operator needs to continuously inspect, maintain and adjust the grinding mill and its auxiliary facilities, working indicators and product quality. The main contents of inspection and maintenance are: (1) Inspection of equipment and its auxiliary facilities. 1) Grinding mill inspection: Pay attention to checking the looseness of screws, especially the loosening or breakage of the liner screws, which may cause slurry leakage; check the wear of the return sand scoop head; pay attention to the discharge of coarse material or the discharge of balls from the grinding mill. 2) Oil supply system inspection: Frequently check whether the oil pressure is normal, and it should be maintained at 0.15~0.2MPa; check the oil quantity and oil temperature, and the oil temperature should not exceed 30℃; check whether the oil flow distribution of the main shaft journal is uniform; check the viscosity and cleanliness of the oil. 3) Motor and electrical inspection: Mainly check the motor temperature, and its temperature rise should not exceed the allowable value. 4) Inspection of Classification Equipment: Check whether the blades of the spiral classifier have fallen off and whether the rotation is smooth; check whether the feed pressure of the hydrocyclone is stable and whether there is any leakage or blockage.

(2) Inspection of Grinding Load. The load of the grinding mill unit includes the original feed rate and the return sand rate. Ensuring a uniform and stable grinding load is an important condition for achieving good grinding results. The feed rate should be kept uniform and stable, and the feed rate should be tested regularly; observe the changes in feed particle size at any time and adjust it in time, and try to achieve multiple unloading points in the silo; frequently check the return sand and water replenishment to achieve a balance between the original feed, return sand, and overflow; pay attention to the changes in motor current and mill noise, and judge the mill load based on this, eliminating “bloating” in the initial stage.

(3) Inspection of Grinding and Classification Product Quality. The quality of grinding products mainly refers to the concentration and fineness of the classification overflow. These two indicators directly affect the quality of subsequent sorting operations, and should be frequently measured, observed, tested, and adjusted. In summary, during operation, operators should move around frequently, check frequently, test frequently (touch), adjust frequently, and observe frequently, paying attention to changes in sound, to ensure that the grinding mill is in optimal working condition and achieves good grinding results.
