After installation, the crusher must be carefully inspected to ensure that all components and connecting parts are correctly assembled and that no tools or other objects have been left inside the crushing chamber. Only then may the crusher be allowed to undergo trial operation.

Before starting the crusher, manually or using lifting equipment, rotate the drive shaft for 2–3 revolutions. The crusher may only be started if it rotates freely without any jamming. Before starting the crusher, the oil pump must be started first, and the crusher shall only be started after all lubrication points have been adequately lubricated.

The no-load test run of the crusher shall last no less than 2 hours of continuous operation. Pay attention to the bearing temperature. If the temperature exceeds the specified requirements, or if white metal (Babbitt) particles are found in the oil, immediately stop the crusher and inspect the entire lubrication system, all control instruments, electrical interlocks, etc., and thoroughly check the operation of all parts of the crusher. Any abnormal condition must be investigated and corrected until everything returns to normal. The no-load test run must meet the following requirements:

(1) The no-load test run shall be carried out in both forward and reverse directions, each for no less than 2 hours.
(2) During the no-load test run, the crushing cone shall swing smoothly.
(3) The temperature of sliding bearings shall not exceed 70°C, and the temperature of rolling bearings shall not exceed 80°C.

Only after the no-load test run has passed may the load test run be conducted. The load test run shall last no less than 12 to 24 hours. During the load test run, in addition to paying attention to feeding, discharge, and coordination between upstream and downstream processes, the inspection of the crusher and its lubrication equipment shall be the same as during the no-load test run.

The load test run must meet the following requirements:

(1) The crushing cone rotates smoothly without significant vibration.
(2) The crusher feeds and discharges normally, the product size is uniform, and the throughput is approximately as specified.
(3) The lubrication system operates normally; the oil pressure in the supply pipe is within the range of 0.08–0.1 MPa, and the return oil temperature does not exceed the temperature specified for the no-load test run.
(4) The electrical equipment and control system operate normally.
(5) No wear shall occur on any friction parts.

Detailed records must be kept for both the no-load and load test runs. After all trial operations are completed, the various original records shall be handed over to the production unit. These records are extremely useful for future maintenance and repair work.
