What are the characteristics of autogenous grinding?

Autogenous grinding is a grinding method in which materials are broken down by impact and grinding against each other with the mill liner within the mill.

The application of autogenous grinding technology represents a major revolution in powder processing. The main characteristics of autogenous grinding are:

(1) Autogenous grinding has a large crushing ratio, which greatly simplifies the process and reduces equipment requirements.

(2) Autogenous grinding eliminates or reduces metal consumption, which helps lower grinding costs.

(3) Autogenous grinding has selective grinding properties, resulting in products with good process characteristics and less over-grinding, which is beneficial for subsequent sorting processes.

(4) Because autogenous grinding eliminates the need for metal media, the ore is both the material being ground and the grinding medium within the mill. Therefore, the grinding effect is sensitive to changes in ore properties (hardness, particle size distribution), posing certain challenges to production control.
